ABSTRACT
Mulyadi. 2014. "Contributions of  Vocabulary Mastery and Reading Comprehension Ability for Indonesian Language Learning Outcomes of students   Class XI in Private SMAs Bukittinggi". Thesis. Graduate Program University of Padang.
This study aims to reveal the amount of (1) contribution of vocabulary mastery on students’ learning result of private SMAs’  in Bukittinggi, (2) the contribution of reading comprehension ability on  students’ learning result of  private  SMAs students in  Bukittinggi, (3) the contribution of vocabulary mastery and reading comprehension ability were combined  for Indonesia Language learning outcomes for students of private private SMAs in Bukittinggi.
This study is a descriptive  study  using a quantitative approach. In this study described that the contribution of vocabulary mastery on the learning outcomes, and the contribution of vocabulary mastery and reading comprehension were combined for learning outcomes. The population of this study was students who were   attending a private high schools in the city of  Bukittinggi. There were 408 students. A  sample  of  82 students were taken by using proportional random sampling technique. Data was collected using test instruments which have been tested the validity and reliability.
The results showed that (1) mastery of vocabulary contributes significantly to the students’ learning outcomes of Indonesian Language 27.7%, (2) the ability of reading comprehension contributes significantly to the learning outcomes Indonesian 30.4%, and (3) mastery of vocabulary and reading comprehension jointly contribute to the learning outcomes of Indonesian Language 48.5%. it showed that vocabulary and reading comprehension were a  significant contribution for the students’  learning outcomes of Indonesian Language. This means, the  more vocabulary mastery  and reading comprehension they have, and the learning outcomes of Indonesia Language they achieve, either it is done partially or collectively, and conversely   the  less vocabulary and reading comprehension they have,the less learning outcomes they get.
The research findings indicate that the vocabulary mastery and reading comprehension  of students  class XI in private SMAs in   Bukittinggi contribute significantly for the learning outcomes. Based on the findings of this study concluded that the better of these two factors, the better the students’ learning outcomes of Indonesian Language  . Thus, it is needed to increase collaborate vocabulary and reading comprehension in order to achieve the better students’learning results of Indonesia Language  .
